Useless Woman is a music and fashion art collective based in Seattle, WA headed by two women who are anything but useless. They've been performing, designing, fabricating, and writing together since 2008. The name is a homage to Leigh Bowery's "Useless Man", a song that epitomizes his bold, lustful, hedonistic approach to fashion, pop culture, and life.

Brianna Holan, aicp

Co-Director

Brianna is an urban designer, singer/songwriter, and fashion artist from the East Bay in California now residing in Seattle, WA.

The inspiration for her fashion design and musical endeavors are centered in the exploration of pop cultural influences (Leigh Bowery, Pam Hogg), adaptive reuse, and the inevitable tension between the indulgence and flamboyance of visual and performance arts and the rigorous minimalism and environmental conscience of modern design.

She is a founding member of Seattle band Motrecraft and artist collective Useless Woman.

Amy Harrington

Co-Director

Ms. Harrington originally hails from Huntsville, Alabama, and has been a resident of Seattle, Washington for the past 16 years. Her interest in fashion, art, and music led her to join forces with co-conspirator, Brianna Holan in 2008 as they performed in their synth-pop band, Motrecraft. It was during this on-going collaboration that Ms. Harrington and Ms. Holan focused their energies on glam and performance-based fashion. Their latest iteration, Useless Woman Art Collective, allows them to broaden their scope of projects to include art installations, as well as garment design and fabrication.
